**updated with Strategy tips and crystal locations
Kumasylum opened Thursday, January 9, to all players level 30 and up. It’s the first battleground where players get to take control of a giant kumas and battle against other players. Kumasylum pits three player-controlled kumases against seven players who attempt to steal the kumas treasure.
I have to say this is by far the most fun pvp instance for Tera. Three Kumas go against 10 players. In the Kumas area there are treasure boxes spread all over and only 3 have Kumas Treasure in them. The others have assorted goodies.
For the Kumas its simple, protect the treasure boxes until the timer runs out. Each Kuma has a special ability and all start out with about 30 million hp. If a Kuma kills a player carrying a treasure then the Kuma holds it with a penalty of 40% decreased movement speed. The players can take it off his dead body though.
For the players its a little more complicated. There’s only 15 mins to find the chests with the treasure all the while avoiding the Kumas devastating attacks. One wrong move and they find themselves re spawning at the beginning camp. The fun doesn’t stop when a treasure is found. The player loses 50% mobility and cannot use any skills… yes the rest of the team has to protect them at all costs, thankfully the Kumas resistant to fear or sleep.
A well coordinated raid will be able to defeat the Kumas. The strategy for this is to open up as many treasure boxes as quickly as possible. You can leave the Kuma Rock Candy laying on the floor, as the Kumas can only pick them up by killing a player carrying it. Once all three are on the floor the entire raid congregates on one and either a Lancer or Zerker picks it up. This character should be wearing movement crystals on their weapon and armor as well as max hp crystals on their armor. The healers can sleep 1 or 2 kumas while the rest cc the other(s). Take the Rock Candy to the loading dock and repeat.
The Kumas defense against a well coordinated raid is to give up one crystal. The baby Kumas should protect the two closest treasure boxes each (1&2), while the red kuma deters players on one or the other (purple protection area). If a kuma gets a crystal, it should then go help the other kuma protecting the other crystal freeing up the red kuma to protect the third crystal that’s furthest away (if it is still there noted by green circle). See image example below and note that crystal spawns can be different from image. If the raid picks up a crystal, the baby that was responsible for it should attack the crystal carrier directly (ignoring the other players) while the red kuma should move to intercept the carrier (blue circle).
The reward for winning is belicarium and killing spree credits as well as a box that can hold some goodies. Losing nets you less and you may not get a treasure box reward if your team doesnt capture at least one treasure. All in all it was a ton of fun and am looking forward to doing it as much as possible.
