This has to be one of the best TitanFall reviews I’ve seen to date. Special Shout to mindwyrm at Respawn Entertainment’s Forum for this post.

For those who do not know, TitanFall has a system called “Generation” . It is just like Prestige in COD or Rebirth in some MMO’s run on Private Servers. Dekaron is the first MMO that I played that did it and then came COD with it. It is an end game option for those who want to go through it. On the Dekaron MMO P Servers, you would gt to Max level and then be allowed to go back to level 1. You would lose your levels but keep your attributes so that when you played your way through to max level again you would be more powerful.
The same is close for COD and TitanFall. You get to Max Level and then reset your char to level 1, however you do not keep your stats. In TitanFall you do get to keep any Titan Chassis that you unlocked in the course of completing the campaign, and you do keep any unused burn cards , but that’s all. You get an icon signifying your status as a Regenerated Pilot and is denoted by G followed by a number. For the first time you do this, you simply have to get to level 50 then you can choose to Regenerate. After that, however, you have to complete certain challenges to Regenerate. In the case of G2 to G3, you have to get 200 total kills with the Titan 40mm cannon and kill 50 Pilots. You also have to get 200 kills with the shotgun and kill 75 Pilots. Once those requirements are met you can regenerate as soon as you hit lvl 50.
You can see me doing this in the Highlighted vidoe below.
So it is 3/11. a day made significant with the Launch of TitanFall. For some people in Austin, Texas it is a day to recuperate from the launch of the game set up by Microsoft at SXSW. For a lucky few hundred there were festivities, live music, prizes, drinking and oh yeah TitanFall. There are the usual issues on day one of a game launch that we have come to accept. Long server queues and instability is something that we almost count on. But time after time there are those of us who don’t care. There are hardy souls who stand in line to get their hard copy from the store, waiting for hours so they can get it at midnight and rush home to install. There are those of us who would rather the digital download and all the benefits that entails.
Doesn’t matter which one you are, you expect the same thing at launch. Some instability and connection issues. Titanfall did have some connection issues in the first couple hours. Once you were in and playing it was flawless, but if you went out to the main menu to change from Campaign to Classic, you found yourself trying to connect over and over again. Other than that, the game was (not)surprisingly smooth and flawless. The graphics and gameplay were outstanding, The balance and maps were enjoyable. Everyone had a great time.
Those that didn’t have a great time were the ones who didn’t get this game. They may justify it any way they wish. They may not like the publisher or they may not like the FPS type play, I have heard a lot of (ignorant) excuses and it’s a shame that they just have to be part of the late majority to enjoy this title. Until they join in the rest of us will enjoy this fun, fast paced battle royale!
If you missed it, here are three reviews of Wolfenstein : The New Order
GamesRadar Slide show review:
“It’s been 20 years since Wolfenstein 3D released, and back then, the first-person shooter was much different. Players were happy just shooting the things right in front of them, never needing to look up or anything. Today, shooters have eye-popping visuals, iron sights, and regenerating health. So, what happens when you mix a little bit of old-school shooting with some of the new features? You get Wolfenstein: The New Order.”
Game Trailers Video Review:
There’s a multiplayer game in development that is showing where true imagination lies. Normally you gear up with your buddies and go on a hunt for hordes of monsters, occasionally encountering a ‘Boss’ monster. There are strategies to defeat this ‘Boss’ and teamwork comes into play.
Here’s where it gets innovative.
The ‘Boss’ is himself, another player. He has his own tasks and can evolve his monster to increase his skills, size and attributes. Teamwork is put to a whole new level as there is no AI to combat, its a person, and you don’t know how another person is going to play.
I hope this comes out for PC or takes a hold and changes how MMORPG’s are thought out.
Challenge Accepted and Mission Success! The first DICE Community mission was to grab 10 million dog tags in 6 days. The BF4 Players got to that number in 5 days… blood thirsty aren’t we? As a reward they are all getting a Gold Battlepack. Well done people!
Xbox One & PC users, you can now sign up to get access to TitanFall. I gave it a shrug of a review but I am going to check it out to see how it actually plays out. registration ends on 2/14 and accepted players will be notified by 2/17
Included in the beta will be three game modes: team-based deathmatch mode Attrition, control point mode Hardpoint Domination and Last Titan Standing, in which “everyone on both teams starts with a titan in a round-based mode that ends when one team has lost all of their titans. There’s no respawning and no replacement titans can be called down.”

Wow. Titanfall took a lot of awards at E3 2013. Its supposed to be the next ‘evolution’ in shooting games. Will it fall short? I must admit that when I first heard of Titanfall I started drooling. I mean who doesn’t like Mech like games? Heck, I’m old enough I even read the Mechwarrior novels.
Objective based online shooter? I’m in. Balance between the Titans and the Pilots? I’m in. “You will buy an Xbox One for Titanfall, and you should.” Ok, I’m in. “Most Anticipated Game” at VGX 2013. Many reviewers considered Titanfall to be the next step for the first-person shooter genre.I’m Liking that!

Titanfall will feature only 6 v 6 multiplayer with 12 AI teammates … wait what? Screeching tires here. Lead designer Justin Hendry said that more human players make the game “uncomfortable” not due to overcrowding but to the intensity of maintaining one’s surroundings against many points of entrance. Say that again? Uncomfortable due to the intensity of maintaining ones surroundings? Umm, that comes off to an avid PC Gamer as if the game isn’t properly built out for multiplayer. To me it sounds like it was built for singleplayer and they decided to put it out as a multiplayer instead. I mean really? only 6 v 6? If I worked for the company the statement alone would make me uncomfortable.
In response to fan upset over the announcement of six-player teams, Ben Kucheraof Polygon defended the size as “just where it needs to be”. Yep sounds like its just in line to be played by everyone under 13, because we don’t want those kids to feel ‘uncomfortable’. I’ll stick to strategy, skill, determination, and when all else fails, absolute chaos in other games than feel safe in Titanfall.
