This is the fourth of a six part series to show the mechanics of a Red Raid. The third boss you encounter is the Monolith.
Marvel Heroes Red Raid is the harder difficulty raid of the two raids that are currently available as end game content for level 60 Heroes. The primary purpose behind this raid is to collect Hearts of Demonfire which are used to purchase recipe’s and tokens from the Raid Vendor (Hogun located in the SE part of the map) in Odins Palace (Chapter 9). Although these raids also drop uniques, it is assumed that you have a full set of uniques with challenge bonuses already. The only other reasons to do the raids would be to get the Surtur Rune that is used in crafting recipes and get Costume Cores that drop from the bosses.
Marvel Heroes Red Raid – Monolith
Teams will split into two groups for the fight until there’s 1 minute left and then everyone will be fighting the Monolith together. During this fight you will be protecting the two NPC’s while they get the mini monoliths powered up. You will kill archers and draw fire giants to the main Monolith to take its HP down in readiness of the final fight. To start off, everyone attacks the Monolith in the middle of the map until the two NPC’s walk off in separate directions. At that point the two teams will split off.
Fire Archers (Yellow Elite) will spawn and attack the NPC. When you kill them they will leave behind an area of fire and sometimes drop an attack buff. The best single target DPS in each party should pick up these buffs and go attack the Monolith. You will know if you have the buff because you will grow in size. When you shrink back to normal size you then go back to protecting the NPC.
At some point in the fight you will see fire giants appear. They will either be targeting you and you will see a notification on the screen or they will be going after someone else in the party. Do not kill the fire giants as they are used to deal additional damage to the Monolith. If you are targeted, make the Fire Giant follow you through an area of fire left by killing a Fire Archer. When he does that he will get a blue circle around him. Take him to the monolith for him to self destruct there and do damage to it. Do not get hit by it or you will die.
At 1 minute left in the fight everyone goes to the Monolith and uses their Ultimate attack. Empower Ulti Heroes can use theirs one after the other. The monolith does a debuff tick on all heroes within a medium radius of it so watch your HP. If the timer runs out before the monolith is killed then all melee should run away and let ranged finish the fight. Melee with invuln medkits can pop it , hit and rush back out.
